Books I've Read This Month May 2019

Hey everyone! So sorry for the long hiatus. Things have been hectic, to say the least. Unfortunately this month I haven't been able to complete as many books as I would've liked, but I thought I would share them with you.

1. Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
So if you enjoyed The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, you must read this novel as well. I'm in love with the characters that Reid creates and how they develop throughout the story. This novel is about a fictional rock band in the 60's and it feels so real, I had to remind myself multiple times that this was a work of fiction. All the band members and their significant others are reminiscing on how Daisy Jones & the Six become what they were. I would highly suggest listening to this story as it is a full cast and really adds something to it.

2. Lady Smoke by Laura Sebastian
This is the second book to Ash Princess and it was everything that I wanted it to be. I loved the first book and could not wait for the continuation of the story. Obviously I can't really discuss what this book is about since it is the second one, but if you love fantasy, kingdoms, and a rebel queen, you will like this series.

3. The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis
This is another novel where I listened to the audio book as a suggestion by a friend. It started out interesting and fast paced, but somewhere along the way I started to lose interest. I don't know what about the story didn't appeal to me as much as I thought it would. One of the main characters sisters was found murdered and found in the woods and after she is found, the town is still reeling from the event. It was interesting to see how the murder affected everyone differently and how their lives intertwined. No spoilers, but I also was not a big fan of the ending. Overall I gave it 3.5 stars. Not my favorite read, but interesting enough.

4. Evermore by Sara Holland
This is another book that is the second in a series. I'm trying to finish series that I have started, is it obvious? While I did enjoy the first book more, I still enjoyed this one as well. I read it in about two days so that is always a good sign. This is a fantasy world that is based on the idea of time as currency and the poor have very little time. therefore shorter lives, while the rich enjoy long lives. The main character goes to Everless to earn more time for her father that is running out of time. This book is obviously continuing the story of the first one and I love where it went.

So that is it for this month! Here are some of the books on my TBR for next month (although I don't think I'll be able to get to all of them- here's to hoping!). A * means I am currently reading the book.
King of Fools by Amanda Foody
The Case for Jamie by Brittany Cavallaro*
Furyborn by Claire Legend*
War Storm by Victoria Aveyard
Finale by Stephanie Garber
